Three killed in Christmas Eve wreck found 3 days later, family speaks

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - When Jerilyn Fisher, her son William and brother Darrell didn't show up at the family Christmas gathering, her sister sensed something wasn't quite right.

Family members knew the three were supposed to drop 16-year-old William off at his father's house in Charlotte on Christmas Eve.

"We thought since they hadn't come back and hadn't heard from them, we thought they were stuck in Charlotte hanging with the families up there," said Carol Blake, Jerilyn and Darrell's sister.

After two days of not hearing from them or reaching them on their cell phones, family members became more concerned.

"On that Monday, we didn't hear anything I said 'okay', we started getting really antsy and said lets check and see what's going on,"said Blake.

The family called local police and reported the three missing.

Less than 24 hours later, Carol Blake got a call from another sister.

The three had been found.

High winds knock out power to thousands in SC overnight

TEGA CAY, SC (WBTV) - High winds and heavy rain knocked out power to thousands of people in South Carolina overnight.

Duke Energy reported Friday that more than a thousand outages were reported in York County and nearly 600 in Chester County.

Power was quickly being restored Friday morning.

High winds overnight snapped a tree in half, taking down some major power lines with it early Friday morning in Tega Cay.

The sounds of chainsaws and work trucks were probably not what residents along Tega Cay Drive were expecting, but they were a welcome sight.

Overnight, high winds and rain weakened trees all over the viewing area, bringing down limbs on top of power lines shutting down electricity to homeowners.

Police shut down the streets giving work crews leeway to cut the debris up and clear it from the roadway.

From there the task was trying to restore power to people who live in the area.
